Since joining East Christhurch three seasons ago, Gary has been versatility itself, filling almost every position in the side (although not at the same time, one hastens to add). Powerfully built, with good touch and a canny football brain, Gary has played with distinction in midfield and then, for quite a while in the centre of the defence. Friends and teammates had always made it clear that Gary possessed tremendous ability as a goalkeeper and it is in that specialist area that he is currently enjoying himself. Was forced into the role a little due to injuries to others but has, in recent weeks, made the slot his own with some fine displays. Wherever he plays, Gary is a tremendous asset to East Christchurch SSC and receives fine support from his father, Geoff, who is a regular and popular figure at all of the club's games.
In junior football, should all players be given the same amount of time on the pitch during a game, regardless of ability?
Yes, always. Getting kids involved is the most important thing.
Yes, unless it is an important game.
No. Winning is important at all ages, so the best players should play more often.
